Lakshadweep postal division goes digital

Taking the e-Governance initiative at the forefront, the Lakshadweep postal division has become the first division in the country to computerise all its post offices to provide better and efficient services to the people of the union territory.
The Lakshadweep Postal Division has computerised its 10 post offices including seven departmental, one branch and two sub-divisional offices. Total computerisation of all departmental offices was effected to enable launching of new web-enabled services.

The new services are being provided by the new look post offices, which offer electronic money order (eMO) facility, instant money order service whereby amount up to Rs 50,000 can be transferred and paid in 10 minutes, and multi-purpose counter machine (MPCM) facility.

Earlier, to provide efficient money order services, the eMO system was implemented as soon as it was released nation-wide in the last week of October 2008.
